Parenting is so demanding. We often forget how demanding it is until we catch ourselves putting our days into perspective. I've come to realize I rely on so many different tools to help me to thrive as a parent. I would say my top three must-have objects, as a parent of three children under five, are baby gates, a pack 'n play, and a bouncer. But none of these objects can compare to my parenting backbone; the army standing behind me.
You always hear it takes an army to raise a family and in my experience, this couldn’t be any truer! In my case my army is built of mostly family; siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. But this could easily be made up of friends, coworkers, and anyone you find yourself looking to for help and guidance.
To have an army is to have a soft place to land on those days you just feel like you can not go on another moment. They are there for you when the babysitter cancels on you last minute and you have to be at work in ten minutes. Surround yourself with these people and only people of their kind and you will always succeed parenting.
To parent without an army is an almost impossible task. Almost, being the keyword. The ones who accomplish parenting without an army at their side are truly remarkable, strong-willed soldiers who are focused on demolishing every obstacle life throws at them.
No matter if you do or do not have that army at your side, you are an amazing parent. Even when life seems impossble, YOU are the best parent you can possible be. Army or no army, that will never change.
